BS Electrical Engineering
- Course Duration: 4 Years
- Total Credit Hours: 135
- Semester: 8
Eligibility: FSc Pre Engineering or Equivalent with 50% Marks + Entry Test or DAE with relevant discipline
The Electrical Engineering program is interdisciplinary and covers areas of Power, Electronics and Telecom Engineering. The curriculum includes learning about the design, construction and maintenance of electrical control systems, machinery and equipment. While in power engineering the focus is on large scale production, transmission, distribution, utilization and protection of electrical power from conventional as well as renewable energy resources. Electronics engineering focusses on electronic circuits, computers, development of integrated circuits and other modern technologies. The students are updated about the developments in transportation networks, lighting, heating, ventilation and elevator systems as well as from power generation to efficient utilization, renewable energy systems and their installation and advances in smart grid systems. Being electrical engineer students would be able to create project plans, estimate project quotations and timescales, supervise and test installation of various equipment, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans for the commissioned equipment.
The graduating engineers are equipped with the skills like, exploration, innovation and development through an effective research culture, training workshops and build-up of an entrepreneurial mindset. The curriculum is regulated according to the framework of Pakistan Engineering Council with unique teaching pedagogies (outcome-based education, emotional intelligence-based learning, poster competition, Entrepreneurial expo, Project based learning, open ended labs, complex engineering problems, Final year projects exhibitions and field-based internships). The industrial linkages also ensure internship opportunities, selection of FYP and job placements with extensive practical experience through advanced tools and workshops.
